ASJ Victory: Pope Delays Limbo Decision—for Now

  October 12, 2006

Our prayers were answered! Pope Benedict has apparently delayed a decision on the future of limbo!

Three weeks ago we made a vehement plea that Pope Benedict reject the conclusion of his panel of misguided theologians and retain the possibility of limbo. Apparently neither our well reasoned arguments nor intense prayers fell on deaf ears.

At the mass to close the International Theological Commission meetings on limbo, the pope shocked many by not even mentioning the subject in his homily.

ITC member Msgr. Bruno Forte explains “At the final Mass no mention was made ...of limbo and the final document is still being drawn up and it will be a few months yet before it is completed. We are talking at least three months before it is ready to be signed so I would not expect anything until next year.”

Praise God that error was averted, even if just temporarily! This gives ASJ more time to rally voices in the Church that will uphold the fundamental truth that baptism is necessary to enter heaven.
